And one I knew of actually paid overtime and issued paper checks on Fridays! Some literally gave interviews! All gave "promotions"! And some even paid various wages by the hour! In all honesty it was a rather horrifying time to live through! And many people were victims of high levels of violence with little or no consequences in those streets/boulevards/avenues/ projects! And untold lost their lives! Untold because many murders from then remain unsolved to this day! Sadly! And even more became addicted and died or struggled to break free of drugs! Some never did up to today too🙏🏿 My point is this type of tight organization was the norm all across the country back then! Not just in Detroit! And why, IMO, despite the hysteria and cell phone footage violent crime is nowhere near where it was then! And drug kingpins like these dudes just don't exist anymore! Law enforcement has caught up!
